HISTORY repeats itself. In these early years of the 21st century, there are similarities to the 1930s, when the world witnessed social effects of the depression and the rise of nationalism throughout Europe, with the ancient sounding 1800s still in clear living memory.
There were also anxieties not unfamiliar to today’s crop of citizens – unemployment, political intolerance, strikes and strike breakers, narcotics, economic and personal monetary inequalities.
