A VARIETY of Japan-themed performances are taking place at the National Railway Museum (NRM) in York this month, including a performance on a traditional Japanese stringed instrument.
Musician Sumie Kent, pictured, will be giving a number of short performances on the Koto, the national instrument of Japan.
Performances are set to take place on April 17, 21 and 28, at 11am, noon, 1pm and 2pm on each of these dates, next to Euston Gates at the back of the Great Hall.
They are a part of the museum’s Japan Festival to mark the tenth anniversary of the arrival of the Shinkansen, the only bullet train outside Japan.
Catherine Farrell, of the NRM, said: “Visitors can enjoy daily live music and martial arts performances as well as traditional Kimono dressing demonstrations, live theatre, cab access and the chance to make their own origami bullet train.”
