A CHURCH has been transformed into a farm to entertain children over the Easter holidays.

York Baptist Church, in Priory Street, has made a tractor, pretend animals, a windmill and a barn as part of its 14th annual Easter Holiday Bible club.

The farm acts as a backdrop for children to take part in songs, sketches, Bible stories, activities, crafts and quizzes.

John Green, a youth co-ordinator, said: “We wanted to have the opportunity to give the kids something to do on their holidays and to share some of the stories of the Bible with the children. It seems to be capturing their imagination. They are having a fun time.”

The farm will stay in place until Friday when a family night will be held and a ‘parents come too’ service will be held on Sunday. The church will then return to its usual Victorian interior.

Around 100 children aged from five to 11 years old are taking part in the week-long club, which is run by around 70 church volunteers.

Previous themes for the club include a castle, space, a jungle, a circus big top and the Wild West.
