A MOTORCYCLIST who died in a crash in Elvington yesterday has been named as Christopher Ryder from Barlby, Selby.
The inquest into the death of the 41-year-old is expected to be opened and adjourned later this week.
Mr Ryder was pronounced dead on the scene when police arrived at Greengales Lane, outside Raker Lakes at about 11.05am yesterday.
He was driving a grey Suzuki motorbike and travelling with with another motorcyclist when he was involved in a crash with a tractor.
The driver of the tractor, a 60-year-old local man, was uninjured.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw either vehicle prior to the crash to contact Traffic Constable Yvonne Taylor, of North Yorkshire Police, on 0845 6060 247, quoting reference number NYP-11042011-0188.
