PATIENTS with Parkinson’s Disease in parts of North Yorkshire are to be issued with personal health records to help them understand and live with their condition.

The initiative by Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust comes during this week’s Parkinson’s awareness week.

Parkinson’s disease nurse specialist Lynnette Bayes said: “The personal health record is an A4 folder which is held by the patient and covers all aspects of their condition. Its aim is to not only improve the quality of care but to empower patients about their condition through advice and goal setting with health care practitioners.”
