UPCOMING bands from schools across the city battled it out to be crowned Best of The Bands at the Grand Opera House.
The annual schools competition, organised by the City of York Council’s Arts and Culture department, saw nine bands play in front of an audience of 1,000 for a chance to record their music in a studio, photo shoots and a gig at the Duchess, in York’s Stonebow.
Bands playing included Hello Eskimo, Reverb, Bearly The Man, One Way Street, Midnight Rumours, Likely Lads, Sewing Operation and Teen Zu.
Hot Fudge, last year’s winners, also made a guest appearance. The winning band was Captain Zippy, from Canon Lee school.
