TWO York schools are about to find out whether they can admit more pupils next year.
Joseph Rowntree School has applied to increase its number of Year 12 places from 25 to 40, while Rufforth Primary School is looking to provide two more reception-class spaces to bring its numbers up to 12.
The Local Admissions Forum has recommended rejecting the Rufforth request because of concerns over demand and the future of funding for infant class sizes, but suggested the Joseph Rowntree request should be allowed from September next year, as it would bring pupil numbers in line with the facilities its new school building offers.
A final decision will be taken at a decision session for City of York Council’s executive member for children and young people’s services, Coun Carol Runciman, tomorrow.
All other admissions levels at York schools are expected to stay the same in the 2012/13 academic year.
