PUPILS at a York school have been rewarded for their good attendance through a new initiative.

The In School Every Day On Time (ISEDOT) initiative at Hob Moor Primary School rewards children with a token for every week in which they attend school on time for five days in a row.

Pupils can then exchange these tokens for small rewards at the school’s ISEDOT shop at the end of each school term, such as school pencils and pencil cases.

Alternatively, the children can save up their tokens for a bigger reward at the end of the year like a construction set or a box of Lego.

All the items in Hob Moor’s ISEDOT shop have been donated by Tesco, at Askham Bar, which sponsors the initiative. The ISEDOT initiative, which the school began in September last year, has been a big success.

Head of school Debbie Cousins said: “It has had a huge impact on attendance. The children are desperately wanting to come to school every day, they just love the chance to save up their tokens and go to the shop at the end of term. Some of the older children prefer to save their tokens until the end of the year.”
