ABOUT 100 pairs of roller boots from York’s Barbican Centre have been donated to charity.
When current owners SMG took over the running of the Barbican they discovered a stash of roller boots left over from when the venue hosted roller discos in the 1990s.
Barbican marketing manager Paula Wilson said they wanted to make sure the boots went to a good home and donated the majority of them to Save The Children to sell at their shops in York, North and East Yorkshire.
She said: “Ten pairs of boots went to McMillan and the rest have gone to Save the Children. They are all in pretty good condition and are made of suede so they are good quality.
“We just thought it would be good if they could go to make money for a good cause.”
The Paragon Street venue, will reopen in May having lain empty for six years.
