The Government is now in the throes of reorganising the NHS.

Their rhetoric tells us that the way the finances are run now is not viable and costs are spiralling out of control because of the incompetent NHS trust management.

To overcome this problem they intend to let GP practices be in charge of the vast amounts of finance.

The idea seems to be that GP practices can spend the monies because they are the first line of consultation during anyone’s illness and are deemed to know where the monies should best be spent and can negotiate for the best treatment at the cheapest rate.

This would, in effect, make the managers that are now employed by the trusts redundant as their services would be no longer required.

But, as most people out there are aware their GP’s profession is medicine not accountancy, so it falls into line that when the changes are made the managers from the trust will be employed by the GP practices, most probably with an over-inflated wage rise, and we are back to square one.

It’s all done by smoke and mirrors.
