IN RESPONSE to Owain Gardner, Labour candidate for Fulford ward (Letters Saturday April 2).
During Labour’s time in government council tax doubled and Labour’s spendthrift policies have left us with £120 million a day in interest payments.
Yet local Labour politicians are still in complete denial and continue to propose expensive and unworkable policies.
The country was left on the verge of bankruptcy. They doubled the national debt and left us with the biggest budget deficit in the developed world. We are spending £120 million every single day just to pay off the interest on Labour’s debt – money that goes to foreign creditors to help pay for schools and hospitals rather than our own in York and Britain.
Terry Smith, Classic Cutz, Fourth Avenue, York.
