POLICE from a North Yorkshire RAF base joined an event to raise road safety awareness among young drivers.
Officers from RAF Linton-on-Ouse attended the event, organised by PCSO Mike Crosthwaite from North Yorkshire Police and the County Council Road Safety team, which was held at Easingwold School.
More than 200 young drivers were able to try their hand in a specially adapted skid car and a road safety team reaction test simulation system to allow them to experience the effects of late braking, hazards in the road and the time needed to react to them.
The students were also given demonstrations of police techniques using batons, handcuffs and breathalysers.
