FUTURE pilots have been given air safety tips from RAF crews at an air base in North Yorkshire.

Yorkshire Gliding Club and RAF Linton-on-Ouse got together to discuss air safety awareness and educate tomorrow’s fast jet aircrew about gliding. The gliding club is based near the White Horse on Sutton Bank, and the gliders often fly close to RAF pilots.

Dick Cole, former RAF Squadron Leader, is an instructor with the RAF Gliding Association. He said: “We regularly fly up to 10,000 feet in the Vale of York. The Royal Air Force are not the only users of the airspace here, so all pilots and aircrew need to be aware of what’s around them.”
