REGARDING the proposal for a new wheel in York, the Museum Gardens belong to the people of York.
Council officials and councillors do no have the right to remove part of the gardens and a bowling green and give the site over to tourism.
They are putting tourism and big business before local people and this is wrong.
I have lived in York all my life and have gradually seen amenities, facilities and access all removed in the name of tourism, with local residents receiving a poor deal. I would like to continue using the bowling green.
Regarding your editorial, you say that York is a living city, not a theme park – exactly. Such a wheel belongs in a theme park. It’s not as if we haven’t had the Wheel before, is it?
