CHILDREN at a York school showed their love for their bikes on Valentine’s Day.

Pupils at Poppleton Ousebank Primary School decorated their bikes and cycled to school in fancy dress in an event to promote cycling organised by biking charity Sustrans.

Youngsters won prizes for the best fancy dress and best decorated bike and tucked into a Valentine’s bikers breakfast of croissants, juice and fruit.

Naomi Wells Smith, a Sustrans Bike It officer, said: “This is our chance to show the whole family how much fun it can be to cycle to school each day.

“As a Sustrans Bike It school, Poppleton Ousebank already have far above average numbers of children cycling to school and it would be great to get even more pupils onto two wheels.”
