How did you meet?
I broke my ankle! That meant I had to move back in with Mum to recover, and I took a temporary job at the local pub. David was ‘one of the crowd’ for a long time, but after a while a relationship developed. What attracted you to him? Character, personality, looks – he’s a great all rounder!

Where did he propose?
Over a fish and chip supper at home on my birthday – I guessed something was up when I saw he was dressed up and had set the table! I found out later that he’d wanted to propose to me earlier in the year on holiday in New Zealand, but I’d been ill so he waited for the next best moment which was my birthday.

The dress
Melissa Brooch by Maggie Sottero, bought from Maria Modes in Macclesfield, Cheshire. A one-piece, strapless, A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline and a corset closure in Rhapsody Taffeta with glistening Swarovski crystals to the side hip and along the corset back and with pleated detailing on the body.

He wore
A lovely contemporary grey suit from Austin Reed at Meadowhall. All the guys had cravats and hankies made to match the bridesmaids’ dresses.

Bridesmaids
My bridesmaids, Emma and Emma, wore simple and elegant three-quarter dresses of satin back dupion in deep lavender – made by fashion designer Amy Hoggarth of Moorlands And Mansions in Bradwell, Derbyshire. Amy also made matching sashes for the flower girls, my twin nieces Daisy and Ella, who wore gorgeous Beatrice bridesmaid dresses in ivory from Henry Kaye, Kent.

Flowers
Our fabulous flowers were provided by Claire at The Green Pavilion in Buxton. The theme was ‘classic country garden’ with a modern edge, using hand tied posies of Crystal Blush calla lilies, Avalanche and Sweet Avalanche roses, freesia and blue hydrangea.

Transport
The wedding transport to the church was provided by Garstone Carriages in Staffordshire – a pair of beautiful black Friesian horses pulling a landau coach. We travelled from the church to Hassop Hall driving our own John Deere tractor which was professionally valeted for the occasion!

Table décor and favours
I searched high and low for just the right favours – novelty bottle stoppers in the shape of cows’ and horses’ back legs jumping into the bottle, from Beesknees online based near Whitby – all our friends and families are connected to horses and farming! The favours were presented in hand made mulberry paper gift bags with pink and purple tissue paper. I enjoyed making all the stationery myself, including name place settings and menus, although this look an awful lot of time. Our cake was made by a close friend, Charlotte Arden, who has recently taken up cake decorating as a hobby.

Entertainment
We had a fabulous local band, Twice Around from Youlgreave, and Alan Clarke provided a great disco.

Honeymoon
A few days in the Highlands of Scotland – it did rain a bit, which didn’t matter at all as it gave us an excuse to stay in! We couldn’t stay away for long as David has a farm to run and it’s the wrong time of year to be away for more than a few days.
