SEVERAL successful bands are coming together to raise much-needed funds for a local charity.
Scarborough band The Shadracks, who supported Sunderland rockers The Futureheads on their recent tour, plus Fibbers Battle of the Bands 2010 winners Littlemores and local bands Overreact and Rosie, will play at a gig at Stereo in Gillygate, York, on Saturday, February 19, to raise funds for York Hospital Radio.
York Hospital Radio, which is run entirely from fundraising and staffed by volunteers, broadcasts free to patients at York Hospital 24 hours a day.
Organiser Simon Pattinson said: “This gig is not only able to raise money for such a great cause that I am passionate about, having being a member of York Hospital Radio for nearly five years, but it also helps to promote the great local musical talent that we have in the area. I am very passionate about music, this being the fifth time I have done one of these gigs and they draw a great crowd every time and, with the exciting bands we have playing, I can’t see this one being any different.”
The gig starts at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £5, are available from www.stereoyork.co.uk or phone Simon on 07504 816019.
