Sue Richardson and Jackie Simpson set Severus off at Red Lion, whose Mags Formstone, Dot Sellars, Michelle Kelly and captain Joan Knowles replied before Formstone and Linda Goldsmith sealed victory.

Acomb had secured the match points with Michelle Murray completing a five-game winning run at Woolpack.

Tramways ‘B’ are rapidly moving up the table in division one after downing Walnut Tree, winning all the pairs after the teams had shared the spoils in the singles.

After struggling this term with their finishing, Cueball had a last-leg double one finish from Gina Whittaker to triumph at Flag ‘B’.

Cygnet reinforced their position at the head of the league but were pushed to the limit before Jill Reed and Dawn Exton sealed victory by the meanest margin at Ox.

Burnholme had victory secured within the singles at Slipper, Charlotte Scott bagging the tons.

Flag ‘A’ flew into a 3-0 advantage at Tramways ‘A’ before Flossy Crampton and Karen Alton cut the arrears. Jean West won to give the visitors a 4-2 advantage.

Diane Armer and Caroline Rattray combined to close the gap, but Flag took the remaining legs for a 6-3 win.

Division three front-runners Ox were pushed to the wire at Leeman ‘A’, whose Debbie Witts and Janet Nelson gave them a 4-3 advantage.
