DESPITE a brave comeback City of York ladies first team crashed to a 3-2 North League division one defeat to Bolton.
It was York’s first game back after the festive and weather-enforced break, and they were slow to start as Bolton went in front early on.
Midway through the first half York levelled as Sarah Holmes swept the ball in to wrap up a fluent move.
But Bolton restored their lead within moments and bagged a third just before half-time.
York started the second half more positively, creating chances and were rewarded when Sam Binns’ short corner teed up Laura Horne to score.
But twice reduced to ten after Loz Pearey and Ali Butler both received yellow cards, York’s push for an equaliser was badly hampered.
