A MAN who robbed a Spar shop in Heslington Road, York, was remanded in custody while doctors assess him.
Recorder Ben Nolan QC yesterday made an order for a forensic psychiatric report to be be written before Gary Clements, 43, of New Lane, Huntington, is sentenced.
Clements walked out of the convenience store with £180 in cash on November 23.
At his first appearance before York Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to robbery and his solicitor advocate, Mark Partridge, said the offence was a “cry for help”.
The case was adjourned in December for a pre-sentence report to be prepared. Mr Nolan told Clements, who has already been remanded in custody for 114 days said the case was “likely to lead to a custodial sentence of some length”.
