A TEACHER at a York primary school has gained a new a qualification for her work with youngsters with special needs.
Abigail Savage, who is special education needs, coordinator at St Wilfrid’s RC School, in Monkgate, has been awarded the NaSENCO and post-graduate certificate in vulnerable learning and inclusion by the Best Practice Network. The award was presented to Mrs Savage at the school by the Best Practice Network director, Maureen Lee.
Mrs Savage joined the school in September 2008 and completed the training course in only nine months, making her the first in the country to achieve this through the Best Practice Network, a company specialising in training courses and professional certificates.
Acting head teacher Jane Conway said: “We are very proud of her notable achievement.”
