YORK yoga expert Anna Semlyen has been awarded specialist advisor status by the British Wheel Of Yoga.

In recognition for her expertise in back care and therapeutic yoga, Yoga In York director Anna has become a top-level advisor and in-service teacher trainer to yoga’s governing body in the UK.

Yoga teacher trainers from round the UK are booking Anna’s course in yoga for healthy lower backs, which is based on research run by the University of York’s health sciences department.

With several research papers, a book in press and two yoga relaxation CDs, Anna is one of the region’s most published authors in yoga. She is renowned for her clear teaching style.

Yoga In York classes are based on knowledge of the latest research findings on yoga practices that have been proven to work.

Yoga, which is at least 2,000 years old, has been shown to benefit a variety of health problems such as backache, depression, anxiety, arthritis, IBS and pregnancy-related issues. Yoga In York classes are held at the Friends’ Meeting House in York on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
