Newcomers York RI ‘E’, who only gained entry to division two by a solitary vote, have gone to the top of the table in the CE Electric York and District Table Tennis League.
Their ascent to peak spot was confirmed after they thumped Holgate ‘D’ 9-1.
Matty Graham, Alan Balmforth and John Temple were unbeaten in their singles.
Dave Simpson and Keith Webster, of Shepherds ‘B’, were in good form in the 9-1 dismissal of University ‘A’, with the winners going third.
Coneysthorpe ‘A’ whitewashed a two-man Crescent ‘B’ side and remain top of division one, despite four resounding wins from RI ‘A’, whose Rich Moss is unbeaten this season.
The crack Coneysthorpe ranks overcame Bootham ‘A’, despite Jimmy Mills beating Mick Wilcockson, Shepherds ‘A’ twice, and Coneysthorpe ‘B’ BT ‘A’ have climbed to the head of division three after victories over RI ‘F’, Aviva ‘A’ and Aviva ‘B’. Howard Broadbent was undefeated in all three matches.
Despite three singles wins from David Dunn, division four leaders RI ‘I’ struggled as Sessions ‘B’ took a tense doubles to grab a draw, and go second.
University ‘B’ were sent spiralling to their first defeat of the season.
It proved to be a remarkable win by a two-man Bootham F, for whom the unbeaten Lee Poulter was supported by Rick Gledhill.
