EIGHT members of a York church grew moustaches for a month to raise many hundreds of pounds for the Prostate Cancer Charity.
The men, from St Paul’s Church in Holgate Road, were taking part in Movember, the challenge to remain razorless for the month of November to raise awareness of the cancer.
One of the men, Steve Savkovic, said the best moment came their ’taches were shaved off by Alex Adibuzel, a cut-throat shaving specialist from Cube Hairdressing for Men, in Swinegate.
He said the fundraisers did not like their facial hair and were relieved to be free of it.
Steve, 40, of Wigginton Road, said: “We are looking at raising between £600 and £700 for a prostate cancer charity. It’s the first time I’ve grown a moustache and my wife said she’d pay me the money I raised not to grow it.”
