New Earswick Indoor Bowls Club bowed out of the Egham Trophy as they lost 98-62 to Hornsea.
The closest they came to a winning rink was at home, where Ralph Tiplady’s team were chasing a two on the last end after coming back from 15-9 down.
Unfortunately, they could only score a single and lost 18-17.
Bob Howland’s team came back from 6-0 down to lead 9-6 against Mark Walton’s side before losing the next five ends to trail 18-9.
They got back to within six shots with four ends to play, but lost them all and the game 27-15.
Away, Brian Gray’s team excelled to pick up a five to narrow the score to 18-16 with four ends to play, but three losing ends – dropping nine shots – resulted in a 27-17 reverse.
Barry Johnson’s team were beaten 26-13.
New Earswick’s Dennis Bunce Trophy was won by Graham Bell, Claire Wright and John Parsons. Runners-up were Dave Firn, Sue Todd and John Broadhead.
A total of 12 teams of triples took part, with each side seeded so they all had a novice, league player and club representative.
