YORK Indoor Bowls Club’s men missed out in the Hebden Trophy losing 84-68 to runaway leaders North Cave.
At home, Jim Robertson’s team led 19-16 only to drop seven shots in the next two ends.
With two ends to play they drew level, but a Cave wood gave the leaders the decisive single.
Eric Hodgson’s rink perished 11-8 at Thanet Road.
Away, York’s only points came from a superb win by Tony Bryan and his rink, who were 12-10 down with eight ends to play and won the next seven en route to a 20-17 triumph.
But Geoff Walker’s team conceded a critical nine shots between the sixth and ninth ends to underpin a 25-14 defeat.
