THE home rinks put in two good performances but York Indoor Bowls Club ‘B’ were edged out by Hull in the the Yorkshire Over-55s League second division.
Bob Blackburn’s team picked up 14 shots between the 15th and 17th ends to storm home 31-14 at Thanet Road, while Ken Robinson’s banked 11 shots between the tenth and 13th ends to reinforce a 28-19 win and a comfortable cushion of 26 shots to take to Hull.
But it wasn’t to be as Ron Kirkpatrick’s team only won six ends in losing 34-6 and the rink of Tony Thornton dropped ten unanswered shots to lose 22-16 and send York spiralling to a 91-89 defeat.
