As the summer nights seem now in the distant past, and the bowlers are now in hibernation for the winter months, I would on behalf of Burnholme Bowls Club just like to thank council employees for the work carried out at Glen Gardens.
The permanent and casual summer staff who always greet you with a smile keep this little oasis in the most pristine condition. The bowling greens must be the envy of most gardeners and the flower beds would win a prize at Chelsea. The euphonious song of the song thrush makes a summer’s night that something special.
So, people of Heworth, walk through Glen Gardens, not past it, and just enjoy.
Bob Hayes, Rydal Avenue, Burnholme, York.
