A DEVOTED mum has died only six weeks after giving birth to her first child.

Sarah Hall, 27, of Denison Road in Pocklington, suffered a stroke.

Her husband Wayne now faces bringing up their seven-week- old daughter, Lucy, on his own.

Wayne said Sarah’s memory would be kept alive for their daughter, who would be told all about her mum.

Sarah, who worked at the Costcutter HQ at Dunnington, had been complaining of headaches and blurred vision when she was taken into York Hospital. Her condition worsened, and she was transferred to Hull the following evening. Doctors there fought to save her but she died of a stroke on September 20. The cause of her illness is still unknown.

The young mum’s funeral will take place tomorrow in the church where she married Wayne three years ago.

Wayne, 33, said: “She meant everything to me.

“She was my whole world really, we did everything together.”

He said Sarah only had five weeks with her daughter before going into hospital, but she was devoted to her and had taken naturally to motherhood.

Born on June 29, 1983, to Donnie and Christine Malcolm, Sarah attended Woldgate School in Pocklington and Beverley College, during which time she worked in Pocklington’s then Somerfield supermarket.

After college she worked at Costcutter’s head office in Dunnington, returning to the same company after a brief spell at Minster Law in York.

She met her husband-to-be on a night out in York and eventually they moved in together in a flat in Main Street, Wheldrake. They married on September 8, 2007 at All Saints’ Church in Pocklington.

Wayne said his wife, who suffered from colitis for the last three years, was full of fun.

He said: “She was very bubbly, she always had a smile on her face and would get on with anybody, young or old.

“She just liked having fun. She was quite cheeky and would like to have a laugh with people and wind them up a bit.

“She just liked being around friends.”

At Sarah’s funeral, tomorrow at noon, a collection will be held for Colitis Research and the Stroke Association.

The funeral will be followed by a private family cremation.
