A MAN who died in a fatal motorbike accident on the A64 has been named as Michael Cottam, from Ossett, West Yorkshire.
Mr Cottam, 46, was pronounced dead at York Hospital following a road traffic collision at the turn off to Claxton and Stamford Bridge, at 7.20pm last Tuesday.
An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned on Friday.
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which involved a blue VW Polo car, which was travelling towards Malton, and a red and blue Honda CBR motorcycle, heading in the opposite direction.
The 53-year-old driver of the VW Polo, who was accompanied by a 60-year-old male passenger, both from Driffield, was arrested following the collision and has been released on police bail while inquiries continue.
