A COUPLE from York have won a £30,000 fairytale wedding at a luxury hotel.
Andrew Lawday, 24, and Katie Carr, 23, who live in Acomb, entered the contest after Andrew’s aunt, Carole Hedges, read about it in The Press.
Hazlewood Castle, near Tadcaster launched the competition for the families of those who were born at the castle when it was a maternity hospital during the Second World War.
Carole, a Hazlewood baby born in 1952, encouraged the couple, who got engaged in February this year, to enter.
Primary school teacher Katie said: “We’re still on cloud nine and it hasn’t really sunk in yet.
Their prize includes exclusive use of the Castle, a wedding breakfast and evening reception, stationery, photography, flowers, a cake, a wedding dress, entertainment and cars.
