I READ, in total dismay, about the axing of competitive sports days.
What else is going to go? The Barbican is closing and competitive sports days will not longer be held at schools.
York urgently needs sports facilities for our children.
Everyone knows that except City of York Council, which is only interested in attracting tourism to our city.
I look around and see more obese children. They are the next generation and we have a lot of talented youngsters in our city.
We need a sports complex, not more cafs or shops to choke up our city.
