COLIN Jones (Rail travel hit by parking charges, Readers' Letters, June 27) will not be using the train any more because he can't afford the £8 parking fee. Why not use the bus, Mr Jones?
Living in Stamford Bridge, you can catch the number 10 every 20 minutes from stops in Church Road and High Catton Road, just round the corner from your home in Tostig Close.
It's a far better service than many suburbs of York have, and runs from 6am to 11pm. It also stops outside the station. It's more environmentally-friendly, and you don't need to worry about parking.
In fact, why not get rid of your car? The £8 parking at York station is far less than you'll spend in petrol, tax, insurance, maintenance etc.
