THE final bolts have gone into the new school building structure at Huntington School in York.
Work started in April replacing 30-year-old rotting mobile classrooms at the school, thanks to a £4.9 million building project and funds raised by pupils themselves.
The school, which teaches 1,510 youngsters, has long campaigned to replace the classrooms, branded "scandalous" by head teacher Chris Bridge. The bolts were tightened by pupil Nicola McAvoy, 13, who was chosen by Mr Bridge because she had shown real courage in the face of alopecia. When finished, the block will house a performing arts studio, teaching classrooms and music rooms, as well as a youth centre.
