THIS was the dramatic scene when firefighters were called to a blaze that severely damaged a North Yorkshire house.

Crews from Selby and York were called to the property in Garman Carr Lane, Wistow, at about 7pm on Thursday.

Officers used breathing apparatus, thermal imaging camera as well as various hose reel appliances to tackle the blaze, which is thought to have been caused by an electrical fault. The fire caused what firefighters described as “50 per cent damage” to the property.

Nobody was injured in the blaze and no arrests have been made, but a spokesman for North Yorkshire Police confirmed they were called in by North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service at 8.30pm following the fire.

Anyone who has any information that could help with the investigation into the circumstances of the blaze is urged to phone Selby police on 0845 6060247, quoting reference number 12100160444.
