WITH reference to your article "Cosmetic or crucial?" (July 14), I am a friend and colleague of Clair's and I have seen her in extreme pain, crying with it.
She had taken her painkillers but couldn't take any more for two to three hours.
All Clair wants is to be able to play with her children. Walk upright like the rest of us.
I think it's very unfair of the Selby and York Primary Care Trust to brand the operation as cosmetic. Clair never once said she wanted the operation for cosmetic reasons, but always said it was for medical reasons; it was for her health. The weight she has lost has made her waist very thin. If Clair lost any more weight there would be nothing left of her lower body.
If I could, I would pay for the operation for her. Clair is a wonderful mum to her children, and a good friend and colleague.
