Andy Hilton was the winner for the second time in a row at the final race in the York and District road running league at Selby.

His winning time of 32 minutes and 12 seconds was one second inside the previous course record for the revised Selby course. He was pushed all the way by Hywel Care who took second in a personal best 32.23.

There was a large group of runners in contention for third place with Richard Lowson opening up a gap in the second half. However, Paul Goble finished strongly to take third just ahead of Lowson who was rewarded with a pb.

Goble won the overall series title as neither Hilton nor Care have run the required four races.

York Acorn put in a strong team performance to take the team event ahead of Knavesmire. Easingwold Running Club were third in their best season since they were formed.

Helen Wilcock won the women's race. Despite finding the hot conditions tough, she came home well ahead of the field in a time of 39.08. Having won all five races she easily regained the series title.

Kate Nelson took second in a good time of 39.36 with Fiona Strange third. Karen Wood beat team-mate Jo Ellerton to ensure they both shared third place overall.

Knavesmire easily won the team to ensure they finished level on points with York Acorn in the overall series, the team prize being shared for the first time.
