CHILDREN and staff are celebrating 125 years of education at English Martyrs’ RC Primary School, in York.
The Bishop of Middlesbrough, Terence Patrick Drainey, started off the celebrations with a mass on the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, to which retired members of staff and governors past and present were invited.
The Bishop was impressed with the children’s interaction during the mass and with their reading and singing.
Yesterday, the school held a special day of activities, starting off with the prayer and blessing of commemorative badges by the school’s priest, Father Dominique. The children also enjoyed fairground rides, a bouncy slide, a chance to design a commemorative plate and a magician’s show.
