The Oxfam BookFest will run from tomorrow until July 17 in hundreds of venues across Britain.

The festival celebrates the nation’s passion for books and the Oxfam shop mission of fighting poverty through a love of reading, while helping to keep enthusiasm for reading alive in local communities.

John McKay, manager of Oxfam Books on Petergate, York, says: “I’m really excited about all the events taking place here.

“We receive such amazing support from the people of York all year round, and Bookfest is a great way of thanking them for this support and of introducing new people to the shop.”
