IN RESPONSE to SJ Howat on June 29, I too had exactly the same response from my doctor (my appointment with him took a week), who said there was an eight-week waiting list to have my ears syringed – or go private for £200.
On advice, I immediately changed the practice I have been with for 37 years, saw my new doctor within half an hour and had my ears syringed the next working day.
These two practices both operate under York Hospital and with the same NHS – how can they have such differing guidelines?
I can now make appointments and order repeat prescriptions online. My old doctors’ practice never advised me of this facility.
