Under Labour’s last Budget they stated that personal allowances would be frozen in the tax year April 2010 to April 2011.
Under George Osborne’s mini-Budget, he stated that personal allowances would rise by £1,000 per year, for the tax year April 2011 to April 2012. Fine! But one understands this increase only applies to people paying tax up to 65 years of age. However nothing was said about the taxpayers in the 65 to 74 bracket, and the 75 and overs. Are these people disbarred from receiving this increase or getting a yearly increase as before? Hopefully, Julian Sturdy, the MP for Outer York, will take this up with the Minister who deals with taxes etc.
