CAMPAIGNERS will hand out leaflets at York’s Homebase store in Foss Islands Road tomorrow, about the dangers of asbestos.
The York Asbestos Support group says it wants to use Action Mesothelioma Day to raise awareness of the potential hazards when people carry out renovation or home improvement work.
The group’s chairwoman, Kim Daniells, said: “Many younger people are not aware of the possible presence of asbestos in dwellings and the potential danger of even very low levels of exposure.
“We will also be distributing lapel pins to mark the loss of so many of our family members; friends and colleagues to mesothelioma.”
