A University of York senior research fellow has been recognised for his commitment to training teachers by the Design and Technology Association.
Over the years, James Pitt has taught at The Mount School, York, and has helped train design and technology teachers in the UK and Russia. He also played a part in introducing design into the Sri Lankan technology curriculum.
Last month, he was presented with the award honouring his efforts at the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) annual Excellence Awards.
He said: “I was delighted to win the award.
“It was recognition of what I’ve done with others helping to develop ways of teaching that engage children.”
Mr Pitt currently runs an MA in Education By Research, with a focus on education for sustainable development.
