THERE'S change at the top at City of York Council.

The council has a new look senior management team following two recent appointments to director posts.

The posts of director of housing and adult social services and director of neighbourhood services are part of a streamlined management team created as part of an internal restructure.

The director of housing and adult social services has gone to Bill Hodson, who already worked for the council as its acting director of community services.

Terry Collins has been named director of neighbourhood services.

Mr Hodson has a wealth of local government experience, having spent around half of his 30-year career working for City of York Council.

He joined the council in 1991 as head of housing needs, after starting his career working for London borough councils.

In 1996, Mr Hodson was promoted to the role of assistant director of community services, before becoming deputy director in 2001.

He has been acting director since July of last year.

Terry Collins, who has 28 years of experience in local government, comes to York from South Tyneside Borough Council, where he was employed as head of streetscape.

Mr Hodson said: "We have many talented and hard-working staff in social services and housing, who are genuinely committed to providing excellent services to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

"It's an honour to be asked to be the director."

Mr Collins said: "I am delighted to be joining the team at York and look forward to working with the community to build upon the success that has already been achieved."
