DRIVERS of taxis and cabs will be able to fly the flag for England during the World Cup.
Quite right too. It would have been ridiculous to follow the example of Cheltenham Council, which has banned such flags.
There will be great excitement for however long England manages to cling on in the tournament, and it is only natural that some cab drivers in the city should wish to fly the Cross of St George from their vehicles.
The only flags that won't be allowed are those which impede safety - so any driver having a ten-foot bonnet flag sewn up should consider cancelling their order straight away.
