DO you know anyone, parent, grandparent, friend etcetera, who was a member of the York C.H.A. & H.F. Rambling club in the dim and distant past?
The club celebrates its centenary in 2008 and is compiling a brief history of events and members, so if you know anyone that may have any information or photographs the club would be very appreciative to hear from you.
In particular, we want anything pre-1940, as all the club's archives from before then were lost in a fire. We also want items from the mid-1950s and the 1960s.
The club has had associations with many other groups in the past, ranging from Leeds, Harrogate and Huddersfield, to as far away as Oldham, Rochdale and Ashton-under-Lyne. It would be great if anything was available from any of them.
Please contact John Ashton on e-mail at john2608@hotmail.co.uk or at: 42 Tamworth Road, York, YO30 5GJ if you can help.
John Ashton,
Tamworth Rd, York.
