Bank on York-based jockey Robert Winston and champion trainer Sir Michael Stoute making their mark at Ripon this evening.

They will be represented by Grain of Truth in the Wharfedale Maiden Fillies' Stakes and this beautifully-bred three-year-old is fancied to open her winning account.

In her one and only start as a juvenile last term, Grain of Truth showed plenty of promise when finishing sixth at Leicester in an autumn maiden race over seven furlongs.

Tonight's step up to a mile-and-a-quarter should be ideal for Grain of Truth to underline her potential.

The Nap vote is awarded to Imperial Echo, who is selected to pop up at a decent price in the £15,000 Nick Wilmot-Smith Memorial Handicap over six furlongs.

Although he has yet to race this season, Imperial Echo hails from the in-form Thirsk yard of David Barron, and he is a previous winner over this course and distance.

A frustrating losing run last season has at least had the effect of lowering his handicap rating and, now favourably handicapped, he is taken to make the most of his low draw under Paul Fessey.

Top Jaro, a winner at Ripon last season, looks a useful prospect in the making. Tadcaster trainer Tom Tate's three-year-old goes for the betrescue.com Handicap, with Tony Culhane in the saddle, and is fancied to win.
