ONE-TIME Woodhouse Grange wicketkeeper Dave Gilbertson relished in his role as a spin bowling all rounder for Sheriff Hutton Bridge against Thirsk.
He doubled with 57 and 5-22 as his side defeated Thirsk by 86 runs in a game staged at Harome because of Thirsk Races.
Gilbertson's batting support came from Geoff Schofield who made 32 in a total of 167 all out with youngsters Jamie Howe 3-38 and Tom Stead 3-33 performing well with the ball for Thirsk and Mark Nursey taking 3-2 on his return.
Thirsk's solitary batting success was skipper Jim McKendry who made 28 but with Gilbertson finding backing from Bridge skipper Dave Ellis (3-22), Thirsk were all out for 81.
