NOW there's a novel idea. A supermarket that sells locally-produced food.
There are some good organic farms around York, points out the Out Of This World organic supermarket, which will open in George Hudson Street.
Stores like Alligator, in Fishergate, have long recognised this. But York's first organic superstore is still good news. It'll be a decent-sized supermarket in the city centre - which badly needs one. It will be an outlet for local organic farmers. And it has promised to work with independent stores like Alligator, rather than trying to wipe them out.
