Dunnington Reserves saw off St John's College in the hotly-contested final of the York and District Sunday League Cup.

York St John's were down to ten men within 15 minutes after Jim Scoffam picked up a second yellow card shortly after Ben Connell had broken the offside trap and put Dunnington ahead.

The sides were levelled numerically when Dunnington's Kester Witt was sent off for using foul and abusive language with the second half still young.

But it failed to put off strike machine Connell, who tagged onto a through ball to pass two defenders before slotting in the second.

A St John's penalty converted by David Norris pulled the score back to 2-1 but a mis-kick by the St John's 'keeper fell at the feet of Grant Bulmer, who broke clear and rounded the at-fault goalie to seal a 3-1 win in injury time.

That gave Dunnington the double as they also wrapped up their division two campaign with yet another win to leave them with an impressive final tally of just two defeats all season - just one of which was in the league.

They beat Clifton Rangers 5-2 with goals from Connell (3), Paul Downing and Bulmer. Clifton scorers were Thomas Adie and Danny Murphy.

Visitors Wigginton Grasshoppers took the points from Kings Head after Tom Collins hit the only goal of the game, securing third place for the Grasshoppers on goal difference.

Whipping boys Cross Keys couldn't wait to hear the final whistle at the end of an 18-0 thrashing to Rose & Crown to cap a season of heavy defeats.

Scorers Neil Fairclough (4), Michael Gall (3), Simon Partridge (3), John Pipes (2), Kris Whitehead (2), Clayton Davis, Damon Scott, Mark Deighton and Paul Nicholas from the spot had a field day.

Lewis Musgrave hit three in AFC Huntington's division one double header with Turf. The first tie ended 2-0, with round two ending 3-1 in Huntington's favour. Also on the score- sheet were Nicke Rakoceic and Stuart Philips for Huntington, with Jonathan Ryder getting Turf's one.

Already relegated Walnut Tree were subjected to a final 5-0 drubbing at College of Law as David Kensall (2), Peter Kendall, Chris Wragg and Andrew Yates waved them on their way.
